Tree Wasp Dolichovespula sylvestris

This hairy wasp with long antennae is said to be a male Tree Wasp. The Tree Wasp is native to much of Europe and some of temperate Asia. Workers are 1-1.5cm long (head/body, excluding antennae).

The lower face is largely plain yellow with a central black dot. The front antenna base is yellow. The rear thorax has two yellow elongated "eye spots".
