The Red Lily Beetle, also called Scarlet Lily Beetle, has bright red wing cases
but is a black insect underneath. It is some 5-10mm long and native to Eurasia (introduced to
North America). It is vegetarian and is a pest to lilies and similar plants by eating their leaves.
It is about half the size of the Red-headed and Black-headed Cardinal Beetles and has shinier, dimpled wing cases.
The Red Lily Beetle above has deposited 3 eggs on the lily leaf.
