Derby's Flower Beetle is sometimes called a Horned Flower Beetle or Buffalo Beetle due to the forked horn on the head of the males.
The larger males can grow to 2 inches (5cm) long.
Derby's Flower Beetle is native to forests of East and southeast Africa. There are several subspecies; the subspecies
shown, D. d. derbyana, is native mainly to Tanzania. Diet is leaf litter for grubs
(larvae) and sweet, rotting fruit or tree sap for adults.
