Cabbage Stem Flea Beetle Psylliodes chrysocephala

A flea beetle is a leaf beetle (anagram) but is tiny and has enlarged thigh muscles to jump like a flea. The Cabbage Stem Flea Beetle can vary in metallic colour from black, dark brown, greenish or dark blue and has disproportionately massive body-coloured thighs on its back pair of light brown legs. It is 3-4mm short. A pest species, it is native to most of western Eurasia. The adults feed on leaves of the cabbage family and the larvae feed in the stems.
