The Red Grasshawk dragonfly occurs over much of Far East Asia from eastern India to Indochina.
Above is the red adult male with brownish red wings with clear tips typical of the male of several
Neurothemis species.
The juvenile male and the female are light brown with clear wings.
Taken in Singapore where it is relatively common, the key visible difference with the related
Neurothemis fulvia or Fulvous Forest Skimmer is the red portion on the two hind wings forming an arc rather
than a fairly straight cut with the clear portion. Body markings are also different.
