Like the male, the female Banded Demoiselle damselfly is also a glistening metallic jewel but is shining emerald green instead of peacock blue
and she doesn't have the black band on her wings. She is shown top right with her green-veined wings (with white spot on edge) and metallic body
with golden tail-tip and top left coupled in a heart with the blue-green male.
Showing her metallic green thorax, abdomen, wing edges and, top right, face. The green colour varies with the light.
The female Beautiful Demoiselle is similar and ranges overlap but the Banded (which prefers faster flowing water) has more green infused in her wings
and the Beautiful has more golden brown.
The Banded Demoiselle occurs in most of the UK except the far north and over much of Europe through to Central Asia.
