The spidery-looking Cave Cricket shown is one of hundreds of crickets sharing this common name.
They are also called a Cellar or Camel Cricket. They are all flightless and mainly nocturnal.
This one is native to much of sub-Saharan Africa and some 3cm long (10cm with antennae).
Living in cave entrances at high density, it has antennae some 3-4 times its body length to feel its way around.
It eats animal droppings (mainly bat), deritus, fungi, fruit and corpses. It also lives in human-built cellars and garages.
