The Brook Trout is actually a Char (light spots) - closely related to trout and salmon. It is native to eastern
North America. There are two forms: one spending its entire life in the Great Lakes and one living in coastal marine water but returning to
freshwater to spawn. The latter is generally smaller and becomes silver when at sea but brown on returning to lakes/rivers.
They can reach 25 to 80 cm, the larger being the Great Lakes populations.
