Zebra Tilapia Heterotilapia buttikoferi

The Zebra Tilapia, also called Buttie, is a cichlid native to rivers of tropical West Africa. The tilapia can exceed 30cm in length. They have a netted or mesh overlay effect on their body.

Sometimes called the Hornet Tilapia, they can vary the intensity of their stripes a little with their mood, from darker black to grey on a yellowish or white background.

Stripes can als fade with age.
