Tanganika Tilapia and Angolan Walking Catfish
The Tanganika Tilapia is one of the many species of cichlid native to Africa's Lake Tanganika and its connected rivers. Breeding males, above, are brightly-coloured (above right with Angolan Walking Catfish). The tilapia can exceed 40cm in length.

Females, above, and non-breeding males are plainer. Breeding males defend a territory in shallow water. Females protect fertilised eggs and young hatchlings in their mouths.
