The Yellowtail Tetra, also called the Yellow-tailed Congo/African Tetra, is native to waters of the middle and lower
Congo River basin. A silvery fish with a long dorsal fin common to other West African tetras, it has a translucent yellow tail intersected by
a black projection (more so on males) and it grows to 6cm long.
Most female and juvenile Yellowtail Tetras have a clear tail fin but a more yellowish body (without the red eyes and
black-bordered fins of the South American Lemon Tetra).
