Ipau/Sortfinnet Tetra Markiana nigripinnis

The Sortfinnet Tetra, also known by its Argentine name of Ipau, is native to the Parana basin in Paraguay and adjacent Mamore Amazon tributaries in Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. One of the larger tetras, it grows to some 10cm long and, like most tetras, swims in shoals. A silver fish, it has a black spot near the tail and orange underside fins.
