Silver Tetra
The Silver Tetra looks like a couple of other species of tetra (eg the Glass Headstander, Charax gibbosus), is one of 3 species claiming the name "Spilurus Tetra" (other claimants are Iguanodectes spilurus and Crenuchus spilurus), shares the common name Silver Tetra with other species and also the alternative name Silver Dollar (Tetra) with others.
This Silver Tetra is native to the Orinoco Basin and to the Guyana Shield, Venezuela and northeastern Brazil. It has a greenish wash, a dark mark behind the eye and a black spot before the tail. It grows to a maximum of 8cm long. Some can become quite deep-bodied, leading to the Silver Dollar name.
