The Serpae Tetra, also called Jewel Tetra, is native to slow-moving or still water in ponds, lakes and drainage of the
Amazon Basin around the centre of the continent.
It has a reddish silver or reddish gold body with a black dorsal fin and sometimes black-edged anal fin.
There is usually a distinguishing black mark behind the gills.
Some are more silver-bodied, with or without the pinkish glow. The fish grows to some 5 cm long.
