The Colombian Red Fin, Redfin or Red-finned Tetra is native to heavily-vegetated streams with tree roots in Colombia's
Acanti River basin. It has a blue-grey body with bright red fins.
It lives in small shoals in shaded, poorly-lit waters. It is deeper bodied and slightly larger than the slimmer Bloodfin Tetra,
Aphyocharax anisitsi from the Parana River basin in Paraguay and Brazil. It grows to 6.5cm long. Males have brighter colours and longer
dorsal fins than females.
