This tetra was described by science only in 2024 and is generally called the Red-blotched Tetra or the Scratched Inpa Tetra. It is related to the Royal (Kerri) Tetra and is endemic to a tributary of the Rio Canama in Brazil's Mato Grosso state. It grows to 3-4cm long.
