The Black Labeo, also called Black Shark/Sharkminnow, is native to the Mekong and Chao Phraya
River basins in Southeast Asia and to Malayasia and Indonesia. It grows much larger than related "sharkminnows" (named after
their sharklike shape and high dorsal fin), reaching nearly a metre long (90cm). Juveniles are black but adults often have a charcoal
grey colour and "sparkly" scales.
