Ricefish are small fish native to pools, streams and mangroves, both fresh and brakish waters, of South and Southeast Asia. The name relates to their prevalence also in rice paddies. Daisy's Ricefish, also called Daisy's Blue Ricefish, is native to Muna Island off southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia and grows to some 3-4cm long. Males become dark blue or black when breeding (above right).
