Reedfish, also called Ropefish/Snakefish, after their appearance, are native to West and Central Africa. The only member of their genus, they are related to Bichirs and, like them, can breathe through lungs as well as gills and can move a short distance out of the low-oxygen and slow-moving waters in which they live. The elongated fish can grow to 37cm long. They are threatened by habitat loss.
