Lake Wanam Rainbowfish Glossolepis wanamensis

The Lake Wanam Rainbowfish is a critically endangered fish species endemic to Lake Wanam in Papua New Guinea.

Males are larger than females, with redder or darker colouring when breeding and with long, fragmented anal fins. They grow to 9cm long. With its restricted range and introduction of non-native tilapias, it is at high risk of becoming extinct in the wild.
