The Lake Furnusu Rainbowfish is a critically endangered fish species endemic to Lake Furnusu in west Papua New Guinea.
Adult males have red tails and fins. The fish grow to 8cm long.
The water levels of the lake have always flunctuated seasonally but this is now exacerbated by climate change, leaving just a few
pools and small streams in the dry season and leaving the fish at high risk of becoming extinct in the wild.
