The Red-eyed Piranha, also called the Black Piranha and White Piranha, is native to the Amazon, Orinoco and
Essequibo river systems as well as others in the Guiana Shield and northeast Brazil.
The largest of the Piranhas, they can grow up to over half a metre long. Colour, as their names indicate can vary, with the palest
grey inhabiting whitewater rivers and the darkest charcoal/black inhabiting black water. They are not a social species. Diet includes
fruit, vegetation, fish and invertebrates.
