The Lobe-toothed Piranha is native to tributaries of the Orinoco (red fins) and the lower Amazon (yellow fins). It has weaker jaws than the red-bellied relatives and doesn't hunt in packs. It has unusual teeth, each with five pointed lobes, used for cracking open seeds or rasping scales off other fish. One of the smaller Piranhas, they grow up to 20cm long.
