The Greek Killifish is critically endangered and near extinction in the wild. It lives in rivers and streams
of Greece but has been decimated by pollution by pesticides, drainage of habitat and the introduction of Mosquito Fish which give birth
to live fry, out-competing the egg-laying Greek Killifish.
They have upturned mouths to take insects that fall to the water. There are captive breeding programmes to
reintroduce some fish back to safer habitat.
