The Acigol Killifish or Acigol Toothcarp was endemic to a few spring-fed streams around the edge of Lake Acigol in Turkey. It tolerates the sulphurous springs and lake salinity and used to migrate between springs when spawning. Now it is restricted to one spring, limiting genetic diversity.

It is now critically endangered by the drying up of its previous springs through water extraction for farming/sulphur and climate change. Its survival is also threatened by introduced Mosquitofish, live-bearers that eat its eggs. ZSL's Whipsnade is breeding one of a few small survival populations, but there will be no habitat to re-introduce them.
