The Finescale Splitfin is a goodeid endemic to only one known pool of the Ameca River basin in Jalisco, western central Mexico. Males have a silvery sheen; the larger females are browner and grow to 5cm long. Like other splitfin in the area, it is at high risk of total extinction except for captive populations by aquaria.
