The attractive Uaru is a genus of 2 species of peaceful cichlid fish native to the Orinoco and the Rio Negro rivers of the Amazon.
Uaru is the native word for "toad" in their region. Fish pair up for spawning and small fry eat
a secretion from the skin of the parents.

Adults reach a length of some 25cm (10 inches).
