The Topaz Cichlid, also called Topaz Convict, is native to freshwater streams and lakes of Central America
(Atlantic side of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras). They grow to 7-10cm long.
They are brownish with beautiful topaz blue-turquoise and yellow hightlights. Eyes are usually light blue.
Males are larger with more pointed fins; females have a spot on the dorsal fin. Breeding adults are whitish with the female
developing a black face and chest. They are endangered mainly by chemical pollution from banana plantations.
