The Scrapermouth Mbuna Cichlid, also called the Slender Tapir Cichlid, is native to Lake Malawi. It is distinguished by its
overhanging top lip with the lower lip on its chin, enabling it to scrape algae off rocks. Males are usually blue, whitish, orange or mottled with
an orange dorsal fin. They grow to 12cm long.
Females are usually yellow or blotched orange with the same overhanging top lip. They mouth-brood their young.
There are more than 40 regional and colour variants of the Scrapermouth Mbuna.
