The Striped Pike Cichlid is one of several Pike Cichlids, all native to South American slow-moving rivers and lakes, this
one to the lower Amazon Basin (Guyana and Brazil). Like its namesake, the (Northern) Pike, it is a predator fish eating any fish (or animal)
that it can fit in its large mouth. It has a dark stripe along each flank and can grow to some 40cm long.
