Malawi Gar Lichnochromis acuticeps

The Malawi Gar is a predatory cichlid native to Lake Malawi in East Africa. The only fish in its genus, the scientific name describes the pointed head shape.

The male has a metallic blue background colour with black markings and a white-spotted red anal fin. The female is a pale fawn with black markings. They can grow typically to 16cm long and dominant males to 20cm (some sources say 30cm - 1 foot).
