The beautiful Kribensis genus (called "Kribs" or "Cherry Bellies") are cichlids native to rivers and streams of
West Africa. The Green Kribensis, above, is native to southeastern Nigeria.
Adult males with their long, pointed pelvic fins, reach a length of some 10cm (4 inches).
Kribensis are shy fish that seek hiding places under rocks and logs.
The Rainbow Kribensis, above, is native to densely vegetated rivers and streams with plenty of hiding places in
southern Nigeria, Benin and western Cameroon.
Males are larger, growing to some 12cm long, with more pointed tail and dorsal fins. Females are more
colourful with brighter, yellower bodies and bright crimson bellies, particularly when breeding.
