The East Coast Grey Cichlid is native to fresh and brackish waters (the latter unusual for a cichlid)
on the eastern side of Madagascar.
While not as threatened as many Madagascan cichlids, habitat degradation and river silt and pollution continues. The fish
looks as shown above until breeding when males and females turn dark, almost black. They reach 30cm long.
The East Coast Gold Cichlid, also called the Highfin or High-finned Madagascar Cichlid, is native to fresh and brackish waters
on the eastern side of Madagascar. They reach some 25cm long (males). Basically a tawny grey, the breeding colour is yellow-gold.
