The Chisel-toothed Cichlid, also called Chisel Tooth Cichlid, is native to Lake Izabal, Guatemala, and slow-moving rivers of Belize in Central America.

They can grow to 35cm long. Their fearsome-sounding name is due to their sharp, flattened teeth that are for scraping algae and chiselling aquatic vegetation and fallen fruit.
