Above is a male Chilingali Sandeater, Lethrinops sp. chilingali, a cichlid native to Lake Chilingali in the Lake Malawi basin
of in East Africa. (It looks similar to the Protomelas Hap cichlids of Lake Malawi, particularly P. ornatus and P. similis.)
Like many Malawi cichlids, males have "egg spots" on their anal fins to guide females to the area to fertilise eggs.
The female, above, is plainer, mainly silver-grey with light barring.
