Nsess Cichlid Stomatepia mariae

The Nsess, also called Alkali Cichlid, is one of a small number of cichlid species native only to western Cameroon's crater lake Barombi Mbo.

It grows to 12cm long and is a predatory piscivore. Like other endemic Barombi Mbo fish, it is critically endangered due to human-caused sedimentation and pollution of the lake.
