Omani Blind Cave Fish Garra barreimiae

The Oman Garra and the Omani Blind Cave Fish are the same species of schooling, cyprinid fish but whereas the former lives in surface pools, springs and wadis in UAE and Oman and has functioning eyesight, the latter, which are born sighted, live in dark Omani caves and lose their (need for) sight. They grow to some 8cm long. They also lose the scales and grey pigment of the non-cave populations and skin grows over their eyes.
