The Clown Squeaker is a catfish native to slow-moving waters and flooded regions of Congo (D.R. and Rep.) and Cameroon. Looking similar to a dark Cuckoo Catfish with an extended first dorsal ray and striped tail, it is called "Clown" after clowns' white costumes with black baubles. It can grow to 30cm long.

Synodontis catfishes of Africa are known as squeakers after the noise they make by rubbing pectoral spines when upset. They are also called upsidedown catfish as it is often their feeding position.
