Electric Catfish Malapterurus electricus

The Electric Catfish is native to rivers of tropical Africa. It can grow to a metre long but is usually smaller. It can deliver a powerful electric shock (up to 400 volts) for stunning prey or defence.

In these images, the Electric Catfish sits beside an Mbu Pufferfish and appears to shock it into moving off.
