Looking and behaving like a fish-amphibian hybrid, the Saddled Bichir is native to freshwater of the river/lake basins of the Nile, Chad and several of West and Central Africa.

One of the largest bichirs, the elongated fish can grow to 63cm long. They have poor eyesight but a good sense of smell, hunting small fish, snails and crustaceans.
