The Rosy Barb is native to lakes and streams of northern South Asia (including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal,
Northern India and Bangladesh).
Silvery gold and usually with a black tail spot, both male and female are more brightly-coloured when breeding,
the female turning golder and rounder and the male turning brighter red with a gold back. Only the male has black on the fins.
Mature at 2.5 inches long, they can grow to some 6 inches (14cm) long. Omnivores, when spawning they will eat some of their own eggs.
