Until 2018, Odessa Barbs were thought to be a hybrid species in aquaculture (named after Ukrainian aquaria who supplied them).
Odessa Barbs shoal in groups in their native Chindwin River area of Myanmar.
They reach some 5cm long in the wild but 7cm in aquaria.
The male is more colourful with red eyerings and a red stripe along the body to the tail. The female is silvery and plainer.
