Odessa Barbs shoal in groups in their native Chindwin River area of Myanmar. Until 2018, they were thought to be a hybrid species in aquaculture (named after Ukrainian aquaria who supplied them). They reach some 5cm long in the wild but 7cm in aquaria. The male, shown, is more colourful with a red eyerings and a red stripe along the body to the tail. The female is silvery and plainer.
