The Dolphin Barb, also called the Humphead Barb/Carp, is native to waters of the Mekong Basin in southern China,
Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and part of Thailand. It is the only member of its genus (previously being placed in Bangana genus
of carps and minnows). It has a greyish body with a brown head and an indent between mouth and eyes.

It grows to about half a metre long. Despite its large size, its diet is mainly algae rasped off rocks and other surfaces.
It is related to the flying fox algae eaters.
