Denison's Barb, also called Redline Torpedo Barb after its appearance and shape, is endemic to fast-flowing
hill streams of the Western Ghat mountains of western India
Population has fallen by 50% in the last 15 years through habitat loss, pollution and collection for the aquarium trade
and it is at risk of extinction in the wild.
They can grow typically to some 12cm (5 inches) long. Like other barbs, they are gregarious, shoaling fish.
