The Clipper Barb is native to fresh and brakish streams of West Africa from the Ivory Coast to Nigeria and Cameroon.
They reach some 8cm in length.
Despite being more prevalent in the Chad Basin than the Congo, it is also called the Congo Barb - leading
to confusion with Clypeobarbus congicus of Congo River drainage in Rep. and D.R. Congo, also known as Congo Barb.
