The Atlantic Shadefish, also called the Meagre and (one of several) Stone Bass among other names,
is native to the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, including the Mediterranean and the Black Seas.
A big fish, it can reach 2 metres long, has a black tail and a row of silvery "buttons" along its flank. Large numbers of
fish congregate at regular spawning sites to breed. Prey is other fish and crustaceans, both caught swimming.
