The French Grunt is native to the western Atlantic from the USA to Brazil. Grunts are named after
a grunting sound they make when distressed.

its 2 close relatives, the Blue-striped Grunt and the White Grunt. It grows to about a foot (30cm) long.
It often schools around coral reefs with its own species or with other grunts.
Diet is small crustaceans.
