The Ismenius Tiger Longwing, also called the Tiger-striped Longwing, is native to Central and northern South America. It mimics toxic butterflies within its range. With its extensive range, it has several subspecies. There are also other "Tiger" longwings and subspecies of all mimic similar-looking toxic butterflies within the same range.
The following butterflies look similar to varying degrees:
Isabella Tiger Eueides isabella - similar colouring but slightly different banding pattern (also has several subspecies);
Large Tiger, Lycorea cleobaea - larger, white-spotted thorax from side; Tiger Mimic Queen, Lycorea halia - white-spotted thorax from side; Variable Tigerwing Mechanitis menapis; Confused Tigerwing Mechanitis lysimnia; Orange-spotted Tiger Clearwing Mechanitis polymnia; Round-spotted Ticlear Hypothyris lycaste; Common Ticlear Hypothyris euclea.
