Tiger Leafwing Butterfly Consul fabius

The Tiger Leafwings above are tatty and have lost their tails. Although they start out with tails, they are not the Swallowtail (Papilio) family but long-tailed Charaxes. When closed, the underside is camouflaged, as other Leafwings, like a dead leaf. Its is native to the Americas, from Mexico to northern South America, overlapping with several similar-patterned Longwings/Tigerwings.
