The Black-faced Spoonbill is native to coastal regions of eastern Asia. It can look similar to the
Royal Spoonbill of Australasia. (The Eurasian/Common Spoonbill, found through most of Asia, has a white face and a yellow tip to its bill.)
The Black-faced Spoonbill is endangered and nearly driven to extinction in the 1980s by habitat disturbance
and loss, mainly for industry, agriculture and aquaculture.
